Here are a couple of animal icons that were completed as part of an Icon exercise as we were working through a logo project.
We are a little slow here over the summer with no design courses. We do have a digital photo course going on. Check out our Flickr group.
Over the past week I have had a few different opportunities to get out of the Lab and the office and take a few tours and meet some great people. The picture you see here was taken last Thursday. I was able to attend with our instructor Karen Lowder and her afternoon Graphic Design 1 class a tour of Bullock Professional and HDPhoto Lab. Bullock/Hd is a wonderful photography printing facility located here in Albemarle, actually about five minutes from our main campus. It was a pleasure meeting all the folks involved there and being able to see their facility as well as the life of a project through their processes.
The following Monday I was able to take place in an event that AIGA Charlotte was putting on. AIGA teamed up with Classic Graphics to offer a tour of their new facility and discuss their green and sustainability practices since the event was part of AIGA Charlotte’s green week series of events. I really enjoyed the tour as well as meeting some new people. All the folks at Classic Graphics are really great and the monster facility was amazing to see.
The very next day I was able to visit The Miller Davis Agency where we have a student interning. It was a real pleasure to meet all of the people here and really tour a top notch advertising agency located really close to us here in Albemarle. The Miller Davis agency produces some top notch work and our student that has been interning there has really been able to benefit from the experience, I’ve seen it in his work this semester for sure.
So a busy week it has been but I feel very lucky to have been able to get out and visit and meet all these wonderful people and tour these really wonderful businesses located within our region.

A nice little post from Von Glitschka that I liked.
